Ethyria Design Premise: 3 empires at war. The simple background is that some mysterious force has caused mass destruction of a once great empire, all three sides are vying for control of this ‘thing' which can be harvested by setting up on this floating objects (asteroids/pieces of planet/ derelict spacecraft ). The meta-game map will focus on territory controlled, while the skirmish game will affect what happens on that map and between the factions. The skirmish will consist of objects floating in space. Each team has a ‘mothership' from which they build and deploy units. In addition they can play event cards which will be able to affect any number of targets, as long as they're in view of the player. Players will control the objects in space in order to gain resources as well as to gain footholds on which to build their structures (important for buffing their troops). Combat itself will be focused on the mobile units that traverse the open space. The Summary: The meta game will consist of a server storing the current stated of the map, who controls what territory. In addition it will be possible to buy cards using victory points gained from map victory, different cards will be available based on what part of the map is controlled by your faction. Once you join the RTS portion of the game, the UI will display the cards in your hand, deck size, and building time for your current constructions. Each player starts with their mothership and a hand of 5 cards. The play will take place on a 2D plane built with 3D objects (possibly more than one plane, the code should be designed so this is possible). Ships and buildings will be created at the mothership once the appropriate card is played, ‘space objects' will be captured for resources and there is a single ‘space object' objective that needs to be held for a variable amount of time in order to achieve victory.
